W2K8 R2 Core Services – Unbinding The Link-Layer Discovery Services

This article provides the steps required to unbind the Link-Layer Discovery Services through the Registry on a Windows 2008 R2 Core Services Server.

Unbinding The Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver Service

To unbind the Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver on a Windows 2008 R2 Core Services Server perform the following steps :-

  • Logon to the server as an Administrative account and at the Command Prompt enter the registry by executing the following command :-

regedt32

  • Navigate through the Registry to the following Key :-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\lltdio\Linkage

  • Edit the Bind Value and remove the Network Card GUID of the card you wish to unbind the Service from

Unbinding The Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder Service

To unbind the Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder on a Windows 2008 R2 Core Services Server perform the following steps :-

  • Logon to the server as an Administrative account and at the Command Prompt enter the registry by executing the following command :-

regedt32

  • Navigate through the Registry to the following Key :-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\rspndr\Linkage

  • Edit the Bind Value and remove the Network Card GUID of the card you wish to unbind the Service from
