Creating A Data Template

The next step in the installation is to create a new Data Template in Cacti to interpret the data received from the Data Input Method. To create a new Data Template in Cacti perform the following steps :-

  • Logon to Cacti as an Administrative account
  • Click on the Console tab
  • Click on Data Templates in the Left Hand Pane
  • Click on Add to create a new Data Template
  • Configure the Data Template Name and Data Source Name as shown below

Data Template Name – WMI-CPU-Load-Data-Template

Data Source Name      – |host_description| – CPU Load

  • Select WMI-CPU-Load-Data-Input-Method from the Data Input Method drop down box
  • In the Data Source Item box set the Internal Data Source Name toCPULoad
  • Set the Maximum Value to 100
  • Click on Create to create the new Data Template

Configuring The Output Field

The Output Field is configured so that the Data Template can pick up the correct data output by the script and uses the Output Fields configured in the previous step.

To configure the Output Field for the Data Template perform the following steps :-

  • In the Data Source Item box set the Output Field to Load – CPU Load
  • Click on Save to save the new Data Template

Configuring The Custom Data

The Custom Data section is used to parse the relevant data to the script for username, password. and hostname.

To configure the Custom Data for the Data Template perform the following steps :-

  • In the Custom Data box set the username, password, andhostname to the required values
  • Click on Save to save the new Data Template
