StoreFront 3 – Initial Configuration Of StoreFront 1.2

Initial Configuration Of StoreFront 1.2

This section of the article provides the steps to initially configure StoreFront 1.2 on two servers, an initial Store, and using a XenApp farm and a XenDesktop farm.

As the initial configuration of StoreFront 1.2 takes place on both servers, each secion will be prepended with the server name.

Deploying The Server Group

The first step is to deploy the server group which entails the following steps :-

First Server

  • Logon to the First Server as an Administrative account
  • Open the Citrix StoreFront Console
  • In the Centre Panel click on Deploy a multiple server group
  • When prompted enter the Load Balancer Address as the Hostname

E.G. http://W2K8StoreFront.W2K8Domain.local

  • In the Database Server enter the name of the SQL Database Server

E.G. W2K8SQL01

  • In the Database Name enter the name of the SQL Database

E.G. StoreFront-Datastore

  • Click on Test Connection and confirm the StoreFront Server can successfully talk to the SQL server
  • Click on Create

Creating A Store

The initial configuration will now move to the creating a Store which entails the following steps :-

First Server

  • When prompted enter the Store Name you wish to use

E.G. W2K8-Store

  • Click on Next to continue
  • At the Delivery Controllers screen click on Add
  • Enter the name you wish to display for the new Farm

E.G. W2K8-XA-Farm

  • Select XenApp and then click Add
  • Enter the Server Name and then click on OK

E.G. W2K8XA01

  • If not using SSL Relay change the Transport Type to HTTP
  • If necessary change the Port number to the XML Port on the XenApp Server
  • Click on OK to add the XenApp Delivery Controller
  • At the Delivery Controllers screen click on Add
  • Enter the name you wish to display for the new Farm

  • Select XenDesktop and then click Add
  • Enter the Server Name and then click on OK

E.G. W2K8XD01

  • If not using SSL Relay change the Transport Type to HTTP
  • If necessary change the Port number to the XML Port on the XenDesktop Server
  • Click on OK to add the XenDesktop Delivery Controller
  • Click on Next to continue
  • At the Remote Access screen select None and then click on Create

Join The Second Server To The Server Group

The next step is to join the second server to the Server Group.  To join the second server to the Server Group perform the following steps :-

Second Server

  • Logon to the First Server as an Administrative account
  • Open the Citrix StoreFront Console
  • In the Centre Panel click on Join existing server group
  • When prompted enter the First Server Name as te Authorizing Server

E.G. W2K8Store01

First Server

  • In the Citrix StoreFront Console Right Click on Server Group and select Add Server
  • Note down the Authorizing Server Code

Second Server

  • Enter the Authorizing Server Code from the First Server and click onOK
  • When the message Joined Successfully is displayed click on OK

First Server

  • When the message that the second server has joined successfully click on OK

Propagate The Changes To The Second Server

The last step is to propagate the changes to the second server.  To propagate the changes to the second server perform the following steps :-

First Server

  • When the message that the second server has joined successfully click on OK

The StoreFront Servers are now configured with a basic Store which is accessible internally.
