Configuring Access To The Database

The next step in installing Cacti is to configure access to the Database from Cacti.  To configure access to the Database from Cacti perform the following steps :-

Editing The Config.php File

In order to configure access to the Database from Cacti perform the following steps :-

  • Edit the file /var/www/cacti/include/config.php
  • Locate the line $database_type and if necessary change it to the following :-

$database_type = “mysql”;

  • Locate the line $database_default and if necessary change it to the following :-

$database_default = “cacti”;

  • Locate the line $database_hostname and if necessary change it to the following :-

$database_hostname = “localhost”;

  • Locate the line $database_username and if necessary change it to the following :-

$database_username = “cactiuser”;

  • Locate the line $database_password and if necessary change it to the following :-

$database_password = “<YOUR PASSWORD>”;

  • Locate the line $database_port and if necessary change it to the following :-

$database_port = “3307”;

  • Save and exit the file
